UMBC Storms into the Final

Sunday, September 21, 2008

The 22 Yards (UMBC Cricket Club) beats Chanitlly in the Division 1 Round Robin Semifinal, and reaches to the final. It will be played against the Washington CC. Washington CC on the other hands, played a stunning game to beat Vikings CC (favorites to win the competition).

The UMBC Cricket Club won the toss and decided to bat first. Raghav was at his best as usual. He provided a solid foundation, and made 69 beautiful runs. A few quick wickets fell in the middle order, but id did not set back UMBC. The lower middle recovered patiently with Ranga leading the charge. Ranga scored 59 valuable runs in the lower middle order which helped UMBC to reach 192 in 40 overs.

Chantilly started very well as they seemed to have planned their chase to perfection, but a disciplined bowling attack from UMBC ended their run to the final. An electrifying performance from the bowlers Raghav, Eraj, Rikin and Gurnish (especially his last over of the inning), and with awesome energy in the field, Chantilly's run chase ended at 190.

This is the second Round Robin Division 1 Final UMBC Cricket Club has made it back to back.
