22 Yards Weekend Update (WMCB Main Leauge)

WCC won the toss and elected to bat first. Faisel and Suchit bowled an excellent opening spell restricting them to 25 runs in first 10 overs with Suchit cleaning up the opening batsman with a beautiful in-swinger. Next 10 overs belonged to WCC who upped their scoring rate accumulating 61 runs taking the tally to 86 at the end of 20 overs. UMBC made comeback with the introduction of Sanatan who put the lid on the scoring rate and chipping away with wickets at regular intervals. Sanatan ended up with career best figures of 5 wickets. WCC was reduced to 129-9 leaving little option for their well settled batsman Viral to go for his hits. Last wicket added 50 runs taking the final score to 179 all out.

UMBC started off well before losing both their openers at the score of 27. After which Anand and Faisel put their heads down to take UMBC to safe shore with a solid 71 run partnership. After they got out, Gurnish took over the responsibility to take the team home. Unfortunately for him, he lacked the support he needed at the other end as UMBC lost wickets as they were going for their shots. Gurnish found a responsible partner in Chirag and they took the score to 163 with 5 overs to spare. After Chirag got out c&b, pressure mounted on the lower order batsman requiring 16 in 3 overs and then finally 11 in 2 overs. Needing the final 11 and Austin on the other end, Gurnish had to go for his shots and was bowled in the process which means UMBC had to endure a tough loss and potentially ending their chances to play in the finals of the League Championship.
