Summary:

Damascus won the toss by default as the pitch was not ready by the start time and decided to bowl first. UMBC started off steadily with Eraj and Surya opening the innings. Scoring rate was slow mainly because of the outfield which had thick grass layer which resulted in even the well timed shots to barely cross the 30 yards circle. At the end of 10 overs, UMBC reached 25 without loss of any wicket. Soon after the first break, Surya got bowled to an excellent ball from Prabjot for 16 and UMBC lost their first wicket for 37. That wicket brought in Anand who went on to hit an unbeaten half century (61 not out). He along with Eraj who scored 46 were involved in 83 run partnership that helped the score reach 120 before two wickets in the same over by Karan rocked the UMBC batting. Anand maintained his end while guys at the other end batted around him to help the score reach competitive 170 at the end of 45 overs with 7 wickets down.

Dmascus lost their opening batsman Ankur in the sixth over when the total was on 13. Sumit played a responsible knock for damascus coming one down, while UMBC was chipping away with wickets at the other end. He got out to a well earned 25 to eraj when a ball didnt bounce at all and he was caught plumb in front. UMBC reduced the damascus batting to 92-6 at the end of 30 overs, needing them another 79 runs to get in the final 15 overs with 4 wickets to spare. Ravi and Vishal shared 50 run partnership taking the total to 138 before Ravi was bowled by Sadiq giving UMBC the much needed breakthrough. With another 33 runs required, the game was hanging in balance. Vishal played very responsible knock of 25 not out helped by some hitting by Prabjot and extras bowled by UMBC bowlers, Damascus chased down the target with one over to spare.
