UMBC won the toss and elected to field first. Opening pair of Gurnish and Anand did a great job by allowing only 17 runs in the first 5 overs of powerplay in which UMBC picked up one wicket as well. Crescent increased the pace in the next few overs, but not without losing 3 wickets of which ranga took 2 in one over. Austin got hit for 3 fours in an over, but came back well to finish off with only 10 runs in his next 3 overs. Crescent finished off well at 125 in their 20 overs as they scored 50 runs in their last 5 overs.

UMBC openers Eraj and Sadiq gave UMBC a good start of 46 runs before an error in judgement from Sadiq got Eraj run out for well played 27. Anand came in at his customary one down position and his partnership of 59 with Sadiq took the game away from Crescent in which Anand blasted away 4 sixes before another confusion between Sadiq and Anand ended Anand's innings for 38 as a result of a runout. But by that time UMBC had closed in on another win with Sadiq remaining unbeaten on 39 to see UMBC home in a convincing 8 wicket win.
