UMBC won the toss by default and decided to bat first. UMBC lost their opening batsman Eraj early in second over of the innings, but Anand and Raghav consolidated the innings very well in a 70 run partnership. After Raghav departed, Sumeet and Anand made another valuable 50 run partnership which laid down the foundation for Gurnish to score quick runs and he did just that scoring 31 off 27 balls while the lower order batted around him chipping in with valuable runs to get the total to match-winning 198.

Windies started their chase shakily as they lost two quick wickets in 2nd and 3rd over of the innings each to Gurnish and Sumeet. Windell Thomas was still there trying to stage a comeback after the inital setback and it took an outstanding catch from Raghav full-length diving to his left in the slips to dismiss him. Windell top-scored for Windies with a fighting 25 and Behari made a gritty 21, but it was never enough as Sadiq in his magical spell ran through Windies middle order with fast in-swinging deliveries. As Windies were 9 down, history was made in 22 yards cricket as the skipper handed the ball to Balaji first time ever to ball for UMBC. Everyone chipped in with the wickets and a complete team effort helped UMBC to secure their 4th consecutive win and a spot in the semi-finals Round-Robin Championship.
