UMBC won the toss and given the pitch was wet from the overnight rain, we decided to field first. UCC started well with around 50 runs in first 10 overs without losing any wicket. The run rate was mostly because of our wides and missing run out opportunities. We picked up few wickets and got back into the game thanks to some good line and length bowling from Achuth and Eraj who picked up 4 wickets. As wickets kept falling, Hammad from UCC looked to counter attack who hit 4 sixes in one over to give them the edge. Hammad finally got out after a well made 72 which took their total to 186.

UMBC had a shaky start as the opener Eraj got out cheaply caught and bowled. Anand was promoted to one down and did an excellent job along with Raghav who played a sensible innings and had a 87 run stand for the second wicket which gave UMBC a great platform for the guys coming in after them. Losing Raghav and Anand in quick succession meant there were two new batsman at the crease and it required sensible batting from Rikin who made a valiant 45, while watching his partners get out one after another on the other end. It became so tight in the end, that UMBC needed 10 from 3 overs and 9 from 2 overs and then finally 4 from the last over with one wicket to spare with Rikin on strike. Rikin got out the first ball of the last over caught behind and that meant UMBC lost a close one by just 3 runs.
